Sam Smith to Have Surgery to Repair Vocal Cord Issue, Cancels U.S. Dates

Sam Smithis off the grid until July, at least when it comes to touring.

The singer today (May 7) announced he will cancel more upcoming appearances due to a vocal cord hemorrhage, now including sets at the Billboard Music Awards, Hangout Music Festival, Rock in Rio USA and Red Nose Day, alllater this month.

A doctor has advised Smith to undergo suspensionmicrolaryngoscopy surgery, which will knock him out for six to eight weeks.
