A $750 million smash hit for Michael Jackson – CBS News

Michael Jackson’s estate has sold his publishing stake to Sony for $750 million. This includes the music catalogues of other artists like the Beatles, Taylor Swift, and Eminem.

I wonder if Sir Paul McCartney will try to persuade Sony to revert his Beatles compositions to him any time soon.

As I am sure that many of you do, I still remember the first time I heard fellow North Carolinian Scotty McCreery. It was during his audition on American Idol where the Garner resident, who was 16 at the time, blew away then-judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler with his boyish charm and booming baritone voice. After his performances of Your Man by Josh Turner and Put Some Drive In Your Country by Travis Tritt, Scotty received one of the most unorthodox-sounding critiques in the show’s history when Steven said, “F— a duck, and see what hatches,” which, I guess, was the Aerosmith frontman’s way of say how impressed he was with the young singer’s talent. Of course, Scotty got a “yes” from all three judges and went on to win AI10. The rest is history.
