ACM Awards 2015

Just last night, I watched the ACM Awards’ 50th anniversary ceremony on CBS. It was broadcast live from Dallas, Texas, and country music superstars Blake Shelton (aka the Voice judge who points to himself to try to get contestants to pick him) and Luke Bryan hosted the show together for their third consecutive year.

The ACM Awards featured a lot of stellar performances by George Strait, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, and Garth Brooks to mention a few. A couple of sets that have stood out most for me were those by Jason Aldean and Reba McEntire, each of whom sang a medley of some of their biggest hits. Still, while I like tunes like She’s Country and My Kinda Party, Jason should have sung The Truth, The Only Way I Know, and/or Don’t You Wanna Stay.

Last night’s big winners included Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, and Luke Bryan. Milestone Award recipients included Miranda, George Strait, Taylor Swift, Reba (whose was presented to her by stepdaughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson), and Garth Brooks.

Like award shows like the CMT Music Awards and the CMAs, the ACM Awards celebrate and honour accomplishments in country music. Hopefully, this year will be a much bigger year to celebrate. In the words of co-host and Entertainer Of The Year Luke Bryan, play it again, play it again, play it again.

I am sorry if my pics here are showing up blurry. My smartphone died on me last week, so I am using my old QWERTY-keypad smartphone.
